The Waste Management programme provides a comprehensive and up to date introduction to waste management in Ireland.  The programme includes a practical application of waste management and the classes are presented by experts from the waste sector.
At the end of this course each learner will be able to assist in the development of waste management plan for their department or organisation.

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.


Course Structure

This course runs 1 evening per week over 6 weeks – 3 hours.  This 6 week programme will take the student through the practical steps to developing and implementing a waste management plan in their workplace.

Whom is the course for?

The Waste Management programme is a 6 week course which is designed to assist team leaders who are trained in a discipline other than waste management such as engineers, operational, facilities and operations managers.

Learning Outcomes

•    Understand waste regulations and legislation compliance

•    Identify practical steps for waste prevention/reduction and waste management planning

•    How to effectively manage waste management contracts - Guidance around specifying contract terms, preparing a tender, understanding/minimising risk, KPIs, data requirements, costs etc.

•    Identify and understand the importance of Waste Management Good Practice

•    Assist in the development of a waste management plan
