The First Aid course is delivered over 3 full days and is recognised by the HSA and the PHECC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council). The course also covers paediatric first aid.

Entry requirement

  • Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

Qualifications gained

  •     QQI Minor Award Level 5 in Occupational First Aid (valid for 2 years)

Course structure

This is an intensive three day course, run over 1 and a half weekends.

The Occupational (and paediatric) First Aid course will include a mixture of theoretical and practical modules:

  •     First Aid Principles & Equipment
  •     Child Assessment
  •     Bleeding & Wounds
  •     Child and infant CPR
  •     Obstructed Airway Management
  •     Rescue Breathing
  •     Unconsciousness
  •     Burns and Scalds
  •     Fractures & Sprains
  •     Convulsions and Medical Emergencies
  •     Heartsaver AED
