This 1 day workshop is aimed at those working with young children in an Early Years setting or school who need to understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.  Throughout the workshop you will focus on first aid administration for minor scenarios such as bites or stings through to major scenarios such as unresponsive breathing or severe bleeding.  The workshop will also cover how to complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies.

Course Content Modules

  1. Unresponsive and breathing normally, including child and infant resuscitation
  2. Unresponsive and not breathing normally
  3. Foreign body airway obstruction
  4. External bleeding with injuries to bones, joints and muscles
  5. Sickle cell crisis
  6. Diabetic emergencies
  7. Asthma attack or allergic reaction
  8. Meningitis
  9. Febrile convulsions
  10. Electric shock
  11. Burns or scalds including cuts, grazes, bumps and bruises, small splinters and nose bleeds
  12. Bites and stings - Anaphylaxis
  13. Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  14. Head and spinal injuries
