Guided reflections of experience enable an integration of experimental learning with theoretical understanding. Further, this will lead to enrichment of the field that one is working in. We may have been trained several years ago... learning paths... This course is specially designed and suitable for practitioners in the fields of psychology, social work, education, sociology, nursing who are already working with children (birth through 18 years) and now want to upscale their understanding and knowledge and skills. There is no upper age limit; the minimum age is 21 years.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. Candidates should be at least 21 years, there is no maximum age limit. Candidates should have some previous experience in the following areas; Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, Psychiatry or suitable experience of working with children.

Course Structure

This is a part time course.

Sessions Will Include

  1. Methods of guided participation in learning
  2. Reflecting an existing practice and identifying indicators of good practice in services for children
  3. Identifying strategies for maintaining quality and sustainability of services for children
  4. Skills in supervision practice, such as providing feedback and listening

Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Refine observational skills and reflective practice to identify and implement solutions to problems in a logical manner.
  2. Enhancing professional skills to provide direction, criticism and feed back to improve performance of others involved, demonstrating clarity of communication of ideas and resolutions of works.
  3. Integrate knowledge and work life experience and to undertake continuing professional development necessary to maintain and enhance competence in their role of working with children.
